In addition to several models taken over from the former Vify catalog, the Discovery series has a place for one model from the offer of another Danish company - Peerless. In this way, Scan-Speak honored the absolutely unique, best tweeter of this brand, which appeared at the very end of the cooperation between Scan-Speak, Vify and Peerless in Denmark, designed by engineers from Videbaek. It bore the symbol P810921, changed by Scan-Speak to D26060/913000. It is a silk dome with a diameter of 26 mm, guided by a short coil in a long slot, which gives a very low vibrating mass (0.18 g) and low distortion. The range of deflection in linear operation is +/- 0.5 mm (as for a tweeter - very large). The magnetic system consists of two ferrite rings, the second of which, closed with an aluminum plate, forms the rear damping chamber. Resonance and mechanical goodness have very low values (700 Hz and 0.29), which ensures no coloration in the mid-frequency range and a very good impulse response. The front is made of a 5-mm aluminum slice, with a slight conical profile, shaping optimal characteristics. Despite the 8-ohm impedance (unique compared to the 4- and 6-ohm Vifa and Scan-Speak tweeters), the loudspeaker achieves a high efficiency of 91.5 dB. Peerless masterpiece, saved by Scan-Speak.
